Detroit Renewable Energy LLC (DRE) is a consortium of renewable-energy generation and distribution companies committed to providing the City of Detroit with safe, reliable and cost-effective solutions for clean energy and waste disposal. The company was formed in 2010 with the objective of improving the operating efficiency, safety and reliability of Detroit's existing renewable energy and waste infrastructure: the city's energy-from-waste facility (now Detroit Renewable Power) and Detroit Thermal's underground steam loop, serving downtown and midtown Detroit. The company's third subsidiary, Hamtramck Energy Services, provides power generation and wastewater treatment services for manufacturers and government entities.

Hamtramck Energy Services (HES) is an independent subsidiary of Detroit Renewable Energy LLC that provides third-party expertise in managing and staffing of several General Motors (GM) powerhouses. Currently HES manages and/or provides direct labor to nine GM locations, including:

  • GM Hamtramck Assembly Plant (Hamtramck, MI)
  • GM Flint Van Slyke Complex (Flint, MI)
  • GM Flint South Waste Water Treatment Plant (Flint, MI)
  • GM Warren Transmission Waste Water Treatment Plant (Warren, MI)
  • GM Bay City Powertrain (Bay City, MI)
  • GM Arlington Assembly Waste Water Treatment Plant (Arlington, TX)

Services provided:

  • Management oversight of all operations with trained and experience staff
  • Day-to-day operation/maintenance of boilers, chillers, compressors, waste water treatment and auxiliary equipment
