Detroit Renewable Energy LLC (DRE) is a consortium of renewable-energy generation and distribution companies committed to providing the City of Detroit with safe, reliable and cost-effective solutions for clean energy and waste disposal. The company was formed in 2010 with the objective of improving the operating efficiency, safety and reliability of Detroit's existing renewable energy and waste infrastructure: the city's energy-from-waste facility (now Detroit Renewable Power) and Detroit Thermal's underground steam loop, serving downtown and midtown Detroit. The company's third subsidiary, Hamtramck Energy Services, provides power generation and wastewater treatment services for manufacturers and government entities.
