Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic Receives Grant
PATERSON, NJ – Just weeks before their annual “Hometown Heroes” beefsteak dinner the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic has announced that they have been selected to receive a new grant from Marcal.
According to a statement the $7500 in funding will be used by the organization to start the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program at the Boys & Girls Club. The funds will cover expenses such as annual program fees, teacher professional development and required classroom equipment and supplies. The PLTW Launch curriculum is designed for students in grades K-5 and taps into their exploratory nature, engages them in learning that feels like play and encourages them to keep discovering and embrace failure.
“We’re thrilled to have received this new grant and even more excited for the opportunity it presents to the children we serve,” said Wendy Schwamb, Chief Development & Marketing Officer, Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic. “We are not your typical school, but the role we play is, in many ways, no less vital. Our job is to be a safe-haven for young people today while, at the same time, preparing them for the challenges they’ll face tomorrow.”
“The partnership we’ve built with the Boys and Girls Club means a great deal to everyone at our company,” said Rob Baron, CEO of Soundview Paper, which manufactures Marcal products. “This unique investment isn’t just a corporate donation; our dollars are matched by our commitment to inspire young people to embrace the subjects, science, technology, engineering and math that will underpin the careers of tomorrow. That is what bringing PLTW to the Boys and Girls Club is all about.”
